More Fall Clean Up!

This past week has been a lot of cleaning on the farm. I spent most of last week folding up and crocheting my insect netting and row cover to get it out of the field for the winter. The cut pieces are now neatly packed in a rodent proof shipping container for the winter.

Then I spent Sunday vacuuming and tidying up the packing barn/farmstand. We did a deep clean of the whole barn last spring before I set up. We vaccuumed then power washed every surface after cleaning everything out. We painted the walls white and installed a washable ceiling. However, between it being open to the outdoors, and being a pack station it had gotten a little dirty and dusty again. I scooped up the piles of dried mud that had fallen off my garlic while it cured, then I brought the shop-vac back in and started cleaning up all the little crevices. I rearranged and made room for more vegetable display space. I am very happy with the result. I still have lots of irrigation line to get cleaned up and I think I want to make my curing racks smaller and easier to manage, but the space is cleaner and tidier than it was before. Plus, today my parents managed to find some used windows on Facebook marketplace that will fit! Which means I won't have to loose my light over the winter and I will have the option to open them in the summer to allow the breeze to flow through!
