Summers' Start

It's been a while since I wrote a farm newsletter. Last year I learned that my mailing list had been cleaned of over 100 recipients, and would not allow me to add them back, even when they specifically asked me to. So this spring, I saved time while deciding how to make my weekly e-mails.
The farm is doing great right now. I recently hired a couple of new staff members to help out around the farm, and it has been a delight to work with such passionate and hardworking people. Combined with the return of Cali and Erin, this spring has been pretty smooth running on the farm. I am just harvesting the beginnings of our broccoli and cauliflower, we have gorgeous heads of lettuce and kale available too. The radishes and salad turnips have been great as well. With all this help, we've been on track for planting in the farm, and also managed to get two greenhouses ready for use. The big 100 foot greenhouse has been planted to eggplant and trellises tomatoes, while the little one will be for my peppers and cucumbers. I'm hoping we can get the last one up before the fall to facilitate winter greens.
The forecast looks hot this week, but we are planning to start at 6 AM to avoid the midday heat.
