Sunny Days

It has been a few weeks since I wrote a newsletter. The spring weather has me busy outside. I finally got my second seeding in the ground last Sunday, and I am happy to see growth starting on the first one I did back in March. Early seedings are always a shot in the dark. The rain we got right after that seeding, had me worried that the seeds would drown and rot in the ground, so I am extra happy to see them growing.

Last week my Dad did a spring overhaul of the corn planter. He opened  up all the units, replaced damaged belts, oiled the components, and gave it a good once-over. I then used it to plant my first peas of the year. Fingers crossed everything is working as intended.

I have had some extra help on the farm this spring from Erin (from Erin’s Tiny Farm, you can find her on YouTube at Beautiful Unschool Life), she helped me transplant a bunch of lettuce, and swiss chard into the field this past weekend. Plus she’s been keeping things up to schedule in the greenhouse.

I’ve been outside enjoying the spring weather as much as I can, and I’ve been spending the cooler days in the greenhouse getting the last of my seedling sale plants seeded, and potting up the other seedlings. These beautiful sunny days make me especially grateful to be able to live here. I have always loved my home and the community that surrounds it. Whether I am in the garden planting out onions, or in my car driving to work, I am very happy that I am able to continue living here on my family farm. Thank you to everyone that has helped make that a reality!
