Sunny Days and Starry Nights

Spring is here and it is great. It’s also a bit overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like everything needs to be done all at once. Since I am still teaching piano three days a week, sometimes it feels like a balancing act and I look forward to the days that I can spend all afternoon in the greenhouse or the garden.
Louie the dog loves the spring weather and spends as much time outside as possible. He even puts up with me taking him out for a long walk at the end of the day, because the weather is too nice for me to want to stay indoors.
Even though my first planting seems to be taken over by weeds, the second one is growing great! I also managed to get beds of lettuce, parsley, swiss chard, kale, and broccoli in the past couple weeks. Fingers crossed that things get dry enough that I can get a hoe around them!
Last weekend I started moving some plants out of the greenhouse.Pansies, english daisy bells, godetia, clarkia, parsley and bachelors buttons are all ready to go! Inside the greenhouse I also have a beautiful selection of plants that are both growing literally, and in selection as I pot up my soil blocks. My dahlias are covered in unopened blooms and my St John’s Fire Salvia is determined to bloom. The plants look fantastic this year. I am so happy with the results this year!
The forecast looks rainy this week, but I still have plenty to do on the farm! I’ve got lots of projects on the go: greenhouse repairs and improvements, transplanting and seeding in and out of the greenhouse, making curing tables for my garlic, onions, and squash, building a ramp for my farmstand, and so many other things that I won’t have time to be bored.
